Mathematics / Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the branch of mathematics which deals with the measurement of sides and angles of a triangle and the problems allied with angles.

The ratios of the sides of a triangle with respect to its acute angle are called Trigonometric ratios.

Learn about the different Trigonometric ratios: sin Θ, cos Θ, tan Θ, cosec Θ, sec Θ and cot Θ.

If an equation involving trigonometric ratios of an angle is true for all the values of the angle, then the equation is called as Trigonometric identity.
Some of the trigonometric identities are:

  • sin2 Θ + cos2 Θ = 1
  • 1 + tan2 Θ = sec2 Θ
  • 1 + cot2 Θ = cosec2 Θ
