Science / Chemical Effects of Electric current

We need electricity for many purposes to make our life easier.

Electricity is the flow of electrical charges.

When electric current passes through a conducting solution, it causes chemical reactions .This is called electrolysis and the effect is chemical effects of electric current.

Chemical effect of electric current may cause :-

  • Formation of gas bubbles at the electrodes
  • Deposit of metal on the electrodes
  • Change in colour of the solution

Learn about conducting and non-conducting liquids, electroplating and its use in our daily life.
